Cougars head to Denver for MRGC Championship
PROVO, Utah – BYU gymnastics travels to Denver for the Mountain Rim Gymnastic Conference Championship Saturday.
"We're looking forward to playing against all these great teams," BYU gymnastics coach Brad Cattermole said. "Hopefully our momentum from last week carries over. We'll need everyone to step up and then we'll wait and see if we make it to regionals."
The Cougars will take on No. 14 Denver, No. 15 Boise State, No. 23 Southern Utah and Utah State in its first conference championship since the NCAA officially recognized the MRGC last year.
In eight conference meets, the Cougars placed first in two meets, against Southern Utah on Jan. 30 and Utah State last week.
BYU recorded its highest score of the season last Friday at Utah State with a 196.375 led by Makenzie Johnson’s career-high 39.450 in the all around. The Cougars enter Saturday’s meet averaging 194.878.
The meet will begin at 6 p.m. MDT at the Magness Arena in Denver and will be televised live on Altitude. Live stats and video feed can be found on the BYU gymnastics schedule page.
