Johnson named MRGC Gymnast of the Week

CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Mountain Rim Gymnastics Championship named Makenzie Johnson the Gymnast of the Week for her performance in the quad meet held at the University of Utah last weekend. Johnson becomes the first gymnast to win the award in the inaugural season of the MRGC. 

With an all-around mark of 39.000, the sophomore notched the highest score of the week in the MRGC and second overall in the meet with nationally-ranked Utah and Boise State. Johnson tied a career high with a 9.875 score on the vault. She also recorded a team-high 9.70 on the balance beam.

The Cougars scored 194.550 to finish third in the meet against No. 6 Utah and championship members No. 23 Boise State and Southern Utah.
