BYU picked to finish fourth in MRGC
PROVO, Utah - BYU women's gymnastics was picked to finish fourth by the coaches in the first-ever Mountain Rim Gymnastics Championship preseason poll.
The Cougars received seven points, finishing fourth behind the Southern Utah Thunderbirds with 11 points. Boise State was picked to finish first, garnering 15 total points and three first-place votes. Denver came in at second place with 13 points, including two first place votes.
Eight upperclassmen will be returning to the roster this season along with six sophomores, highlighted by Megan Bain, Haylee Rollins and Raquel Willman. Rollins led the team on the bars (9.840) and on the floor (9.820). BYU's nine incoming freshmen are the most by any school in the championship.
The 2014 season will start with a multi-team event at the Hunstman Center in Salt Lake City on Jan. 11 at 7 p.m. MST.
