Watch the NCAA Gymnastics Selection Show

PROVO, Utah - The National Collegiate Women’s Gymnastics Committee will conduct selections for the 2013 NCAA National Collegiate Women’s Gymnastics Championships March 24-25. The field of 36-teams, 30 all-around and 24 individual event competitors will be announced during a selection show, Monday, March 25. The show, which will air on NCAA.com at 1 p.m. MDT will reveal the teams moving on to the postseason and their destination.

The field will be selected from 84 NCAA Division I, II, and III institutions sponsoring the sport of women’s gymnastics.

The Cougars have a regional qualifying score (RQS - a formula that takes a team's top three away scores, its next three highest scores, drops the high score and averages the remaining five) of 195.365 and are in position to likely earn a berth to one of the six sites for the regional meets held on April 6.

BYU has competed at regionals in 21 of the last 23 seasons.

NCAA Regional Information
Six teams, five all-around competitors (who are not representing a qualifying team) and one individual event specialist per event (who has attained a minimum Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) of 9.4) will be named to each of the six predetermined regional sites. The top-18 teams are seeded on a national basis, based on their respective RQS. Teams seeded 19-36 are organized into three pods (19-24, 25-30 and 31-36) and placed geographically at one of the six regional sites, beginning with teams 19-24 followed by teams 25-30 and then finally teams 31-36. All-around competitors and event specialists are assigned to their respective geographic region or the designated site for their region.

NCAA Championship Information
The 2013 NCAA National Collegiate Women’s Gymnastics Championships will be held in historic Pauley Pavilion on April 19-21 and will consist of 12 teams and 12 all-around competitors and event specialists. The top-two teams and the top-two all-around competitors (who are not representing an advancing team) from each regional will receive an automatic berth to the national championships. In addition, the event winners at each regional site advance to the national championships (only in that specific event) if they are not part of a qualifying team or the all-around qualifiers.
