
BYU women’s cross country places first at Utah State

Logan, Utah – Five Cougars competed at the Utah State-hosted Steve. T Reeder Memorial and took first place with 34 points Friday at the Steve and Dona Reeder Cross Country Course.
“We had some of our women race today to give them the opportunity to compete for the last few spots for Pre-Nationals in Louisville next weekend,” associate women’s head coach Diljeet Taylor said. "They ran great and came away with the win."
Amanda Erickson, Maddie Cannon, Josey Hedquist, Rachel Stewart and Ally Geisler represented BYU in the 5k race. Three of the Cougars finished in the top-five. Erickson finished second (18:02.16), Cannon finished third (18:40.77) and Hedquist came in fifth (18:48.47). Stewart followed in 14th place (19:28.12) with Geisler rounding out the group finishing 18th (19:41.35).
The Cougars secured the win against Utah State, University of Utah, Weber State, Southern Idaho and Westminster. Most of the teams ran their B teams during the meet.
The men’s and women’s teams head to the Pre-Nationals Invitational in Louisville, Kentucky, on Saturday, Oct. 14.
