Harrison and Jube named to WCC All-Academic Team
SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Andrea Nelson Harrison and Carrie Jube were named to the 2014 West Coast Conference All-Academic Team in an announcement made by the league Thursday.
Harrison, a senior and team captain, placed 46th at the NCAA Championships and was BYU’s top runner all season. Harrison studies Family, Home, and Social Sciences and maintained a 3.51 GPA.
Jube, a junior from Provo, had a breakout year becoming the second best runner for the Cougars, placing 2nd overall at the West Coast Conference Championships. Jube studies Illustration and maintained a 3.38 GPA.
Harrison and Jube were two of 10 athletes honored that included all institutions of the WCC. BYU and Portland were the only schools with more than one athlete named to the team.
Jennica Redd, a junior from Orem, was named WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention.
To be considered for the award, athletes must maintain a minimum of a 3.20 GPA, be a significant contributor on the team, be at least a sophomore in athletic and academic standing, and participate in over 50 percent of the team’s competitions.
