PROVO, Utah – After a strong showing at Notre Dame, BYU women’s cross country made its first appearance of the season in the national coaches poll released by the USTFCCCA early Tuesday.

The Cougars moved up from the "receiving votes" portion of the poll last week and check in at No. 30 in the 30-team poll after receiving 33 points, up from 16 points last week. Points are awarded to teams by nine coaches, one from each region, voting in the poll. The higher a coach ranks a team, the more points rewarded.

Last season, BYU was ranked as high as No. 26 during the season and ended its season ranked No. 28. The Cougars are in the middle of a bye week, but will be back in action on Oct. 17 at the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational. Competing well in Wisconsin may allow BYU to match or best last year’s highest ranking at No. 26.
