PROVO, Utah – BYU women’s cross country has released its 2014 schedule, which features two meets in Utah and national invitationals in Wisconsin and Indiana.

The Cougars open up the season in Salt Lake City at the Utah Open hosted by the University of Utah on Sept. 5.

“Our schedule is different than any schedule we’ve had in the time I’ve been here,” women’s coach Patrick Shane said. “We will be attending an invitational at the University of Utah. It’s the first time we’ve gone to an invitational there and that will be a fun opportunity for our local fans to watch us run.”

Following the Utah Open, BYU will host the Autumn Classic in Provo on Sept. 13 before heading to the Midwest on Oct. 3 for the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Indiana.

The biggest meet of the year besides nationals will be on Oct. 17 at the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational. The majority of the teams that will compete at nationals will be at that meet.

“It’s a critical competition for all who will go to nationals,” Shane said.  “It’s one of the biggest cross country meets in the country.”

The postseason begins on Nov. 1 with a meet in Sunnyvale, California, for the West Coast Conference Championships. That meet will be followed by the Mountain Regional meet in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Nov. 14 and the NCAA Championships a week later in Terre Haute, Indiana, on Nov. 22.

The complete schedule can be found here.
