Shields, Nielsen named to All-Academic team
SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- Natalie Shields and Nicole Nielsen were selected to the West Coast Conference All-Academic team last week.
Ten student athletes were selected to the All-Academic Team to mirror the All-Conference Team that was announced on Saturday, November 2, where Shields was also honored.
The WCC announces this team following the athletic season. In order to be selected for the women’s cross country all-academic team, a student athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 overall GPA and be a significant contributor to her team. She must participate in at least 50 percent of all contests, and have at least sophomore athletic and academic standing. Shields and Nielsen were selected out of all eligible student athletes at all institutions in the WCC.
Honorable Mention was also awarded to Sarah Yingling, Andrea Nelson Harrison and Rachel Stewart.
