Women Earn No. 2 Seed at 2012 WCC Championships

Competing in its first season in the West Coast Conference, the BYU women’s basketball team finished in a second place tie with San Diego with identical (12-4) league records.

By virtue of their sweep over the Toreros, the Cougars earn the No.2 seed in the 2012 Zappos.com West Coast Conference Championships. BYU (24-6, 12-4) opens play on Saturday, Mar. 3 in the second semifinal game of the day at approximately 2:30 p.m. PST. Gonzaga who won the regular season title with a 14-2 record will play in the first semifinal game at noon PST.

San Diego gets a bye into the quarterfinals and will play its first game on Friday.

All of the games will be played at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. Both of the semifinal contests are scheduled to air live worldwide on BYUtv.

The winners of the semifinal games play in the championship game on Monday, Mar. 5 at noon, PST.  The title game will air live on ESPNU. The winner receives an automatic bid to the 2012 NCAA Tournament.
