FORT WORTH -- In a matchup of two of the Mountain West Conference's best women's basketball teams, the Cougars fell a tough 64-40 to the league-leading TCU Horned Frogs in Texas, Wednesday.

Keilani Moeaki led the team with nine points followed by Coriann Wood with eight. Dani Peterson and Mindy Bonham led the team with five rebounds each.

BYU only had three opportunities at the free-throw line while the Horned Frogs had 20. The Cougars had more attempts at the 3-point line and in the field but couldn't quite put them away.

"We played very tentatively tonight and I'm not pleased with our effort," said BYU head coach Jeff Judkins. "We got out hustled and outrebounded. Hopefully we can learn from this and keep moving forward."

The Cougars and Horned Frogs kept the game close throughout the first half with three lead changes. A 3-pointer from Kristen Riley would send the Cougars on a 10-0 run but the streak would end after TCU came up with a few free-throws to pull the score within two.

TCU went on a run of its own and the Cougars found themselves down by eight points with three minutes to play until halftime. The Cougars were able to find a rhythm and went into the locker room down by five. Riley led the team at the half with seven points. Neither team had recorded any points in the paint after the first half and the Cougars were outrebounding the Horned Frogs by one.

The second half saw a different Cougar team as they tried to fight back against poor shooting. The Horned Frogs took the lead and never looked back as they went 45 percent from the field compared to BYU's 25 percent.

BYU begins the second half of league play hosting UNLV in the Marriott Center at 2 p.m., on Saturday.

In the first meeting between the Cougars and the Rebels in Las Vegas, BYU picked up a 71-61 road victory.
