Four MWC Post-Season Awards For Cougars

PROVO -- Three Cougars were among the MWC post-season award winners for the 2008-09 women’s basketball season, the conference announced today. Mindy Nielson, Cassie King, and Shawnee Slade were all recognized.

Nielson was named All-Conference Third Team, and was also-named to the MWC All-Defensive Team. Both King and Slade were named Honorable Mention All-MWC. The awards were the first for each of the athletes.

The No. 6 seed Cougars begin play in the first round of the MWC Championship tournament Tuesday, when they take on No. 7 UNLV at 7 p.m. Live audio streaming is available on the internet for all of the games from the MWC Tournament at BYU Radio with Jay Monsen calling the action. BYU defeated the Rebels twice during the regular season, winning 67-62 in Las Vegas on Jan. 21, and 53-52 in Provo on Feb. 21.
