LARAMIE -- The Cougars, led by Keilani Moekai’s 13 points, improved to 3-1 on the road in MWC play on Saturday, Jan. 31 with a 58-45 win over the Wyoming Cowgirls in Laramie.

"This was a huge road win for us," said head coach Jeff Judkins. "This is a tough place to play."

The teams exchanged leads in the first half before the Cougars were able to pull away, stretching their lead to 23-16 on a Moeaki layup at with 3:25 left before halftime.

BYU took a three-point lead into the break, ahead of Wyoming 23-20. Jazmine Foreman had seven points and five boards in the first twenty minutes, and Moeaki had nine points and three rebounds.

The Cougars shot 2-of-3 (66 percent) from behind the three-point line, while Wyoming was online 2-of-9 (22 percent) before the break.

The Cougars opened the second half strongly, and an 11-4 gave the team a 10 point lead, 34-24, at the 14:38 mark. Wyoming would get no closer than six points the rest of the game.

Moeaki led all scorers in the game. Foreman and Kristen Riley both had a game-high six rebounds. BYU outrebounded Wyoming 40-32. Megan McGuffey, Wyoming’s leading scorer who averages 11.3 points per game was held to only six points by the Cougars’ tough defense.

"We got great play from our bench today," said Judkins. "I was able to sub in and out cause of our bench strength."

The victory over Wyoming moves BYU to 14-5 (4-3, MWC), while the Cowgirls fall to 10-10 (2-5, MWC).

Air Force visits the Marriott Center for a Mountain West Conference showdown on Wednesday, Feb. 4 at 7:00 p.m. Live audio and stat feeds are available at www.byucougars.com, and the game will be broadcast live on BYUTV.
