BYU Falls to Colorado in NIT

BOULDER, Colorado - Despite the 14 points and eight rebounds by junior Jill Adams, BYU's women's basketball team fell 70-53 to Colorado, in the first round of the WNIT, Thursday.

The Cougars end the season with a 16-13, 9-5 record.

"I'm really proud of our team, they really hung on there and battled until the end," said head coach Trent Shippen. "Even though we lost, this is a great experience for our team and the program."

"We rebounded well for the entire game, but shot poorly in the second half, probably one of our lowest of the season," added Shippen.

From the field, the Cougars shot 33 percent for the game, and 80 percent form the free-throw line.

BYU was down by one at the half, 31-32, coming out strong in the early minutes of the second half, picking up a four point lead 42-38 with 14 minutes left in the game. Despite a strong offensive effort, the shots just weren't going for the visiting Cougars. Colorado took advantage and was able to takeover the lead and sustain it for the remainder of the game.

Mandy Nightingale led the Buffaloes with 16 points, followed by Jenny Roulier with 10.

Colorado moves on to the second round of the WNIT with a game on Sunday against Drake who defeated Utah in other first round action.
