SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference announced the seeding for the 2022-23 University Credit Union WCC Women's Basketball Tournament Monday night.

BYU women’s basketball earned a first-round bye with the No. 5 seed and is slated to play on Friday, March 3 at 12 p.m. PT. The Cougars will face the winner of Santa Clara and Pepperdine who play the 8/9 game on Thursday, March 2 at 12 p.m. PT.

This afternoon, Portland defeated BYU in Provo. As a result of that outcome, BYU and San Francisco tied in the WCC standings. Conference seeding tiebreakers for two teams factor in head-to-head competition, then won-loss record versus each league member from the top down. The Cougars and Dons split in regular season action and both first-place Gonzaga and second-place Portland swept BYU and USF. Against third-placed San Diego, USF was 2-0 while BYU split. The Dons secured the double bye as the No. 4 seed and will take the court for the first time on Saturday, March 4.

Following Gonzaga's Saturday afternoon win over BYU and Portland's loss to San Diego; the Zags are the WCC 2022-23 Regular Season Champions and will be the No. 1 seed. Top-seed Gonzaga and No. 2 seed Portland were each awarded triple byes heading into the tournament as the Conference announced the full women's tournament bracket on Monday.

Both the Bulldogs and the Pilots will advance to Monday's semifinals.

Having won seven of its last nine to conclude the regular season, San Diego is positioned as the No. 3 seed. The Toreros edged Santa Clara in overtime two weeks ago before taking down Portland last Saturday. USD will take the court for the first time on Saturday, March 4.

The opening round on Thursday will feature the No. 8 seed Santa Clara battling No. 9 Pepperdine in the first women's game at 12 p.m. PT, followed by No. 7 seed Saint Mary's facing No. 10 LMU at 2:30 p.m. PT.

BYU will play the winner of Santa Clara/Pepperdine on Friday, March 3, at 12 p.m. PT and Pacific will play the winner of Saint Mary's/LMU on Friday, March 3, at 2:30 p.m. PT.

The 2023 University Credit Union West Coast Conference Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournament will be held from March 2-7 at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. The first four rounds of the women’s tournament and the first two rounds of the men’s tournament will be televised on the WCC’s regional sports network partners, NBC Sports Bay Area, NBC Sports California, ROOT Sports NW, Bally Sports West, Bally Sports SoCal, Bally Sports San Diego, as well as BYUtv. These games will also be available online on the WCC Network. ESPN will televise the quarterfinals and semifinals of the men’s tournament, and the championship games of both the men’s and women’s tournament.
