PROVO, Utah – BYU women's basketball sophomore guard Shaylee Gonzales continues to earn recognition across college basketball, picking up second-team All-America honors from The Athletic this week.

Gonzales, recently named the West Coast Conference Player of the Year for the second year in a row, averages 18.7 points per game, 5.9 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.3 steals.

The Arizona product was named a finalist for the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award on Wednesday as well. She has led BYU to a 26-3 record, including a regular-season WCC championship and an expected at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament next week.

Also named to the All-WCC First Team for the third year, Gonzales has scored in double figures in 28 of 29 games and topped 20 points in 13 games. She earned All-tournament honors from the WCC after averaging 18 points and 9 rebounds over two games.

In addition to Gonzales' second-team selection, BYU head coach Jeff Judkins received votes from writers of The Athletic for Coach of the Year. Judkins, the WCC Coach of the Year for the second-consecutive year, has coached the Cougars to another likely NCAA bid after taking the team to the tournament 10 times previously.

On Wednesday, Judkins was named a semifinalist for the Naismith Women's College Coach of the Year award.

BYU is currently ranked No. 15 in the Associated Press Top 25, the highest ranking in program history.
