Cougar women play home opener vs. Texas A&M Kingsville, Thursday
PROVO, Utah — BYU women’s basketball looks to bounce back from a road loss at Washington State, as it returns home for its home opener vs. Texas A&M Kingsville.
The game tips off at 7 p.m., on Thursday, Nov. 14, and will be carried live on the BYUtv App.

ABOUT BYU
- BYU is 0-1 on the year after a disappointing 67-50, loss at Washington State on Nov. 9.
- With 393 total wins, head coach Jeff Judkins is the all-time winningest men’s or women’s BYU basketball head coach. He needs seven wins to reach 400 victories, a coaching milestone
- Senior Jasmine Moody has the most playing experience on this year’s team (98 total games)
- The Cougars return 10 letterwinners and three starters, while adding five newcomers and one redshirt freshman
- Junior guard Paisley Johnson leads the team in scoring with a 19.0 average; senior forward Jasmine Moody tops the leaderboard in rebounds, pulling down 8.0 per game; freshman Leilani Otuafi leads the way in assists with a 4.0 average
- After finishing second in last year’s West Coast Conference race and winning the WCC tournament crown, BYU was selected to finish second in the conference race

ABOUT TEXAS A&M KINGSVILLE
- Texas A&M Kingsville comes to Provo with a 1-1 record after a 63-57 victory over Chadron State and a 65-37 loss at Black Hills State. They also played an exhibition contest losing 85-55 to Prairie View.
- This is the first meeting between the Cougars and Javelinas
- The Javelinas were picked to finish 13th in the Lone Star Conference Preseason Poll; there are 18 schools in the league
- Senior guard Brynae Thompson tops the stats in points for TA&MK with a 23.0 average; teammate and junior forward Anastacia Mickens grabs a team-best 8.0 rebounds per contest; junior guard Ravae Payne is the assist leader with a 4.5 average

After the home contest vs. Texas A&M Kingsville, the Cougar team takes its second road trip of the season to Fresno, California to take on the Bullldogs. The game will be played on Thursday, Nov. 21, at 6 p.m. PT in the Save Mart Center.
