WCC Women's Basketball 2019-20 schedule announced

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference announced its 2019-20 women's basketball conference schedule on Wednesday.

The race for the WCC regular season crown will be contested over a 10-week span and consist of a double round-robin format. Conference play is slated to begin on Saturday, December 28, 2019 and will conclude on Saturday, February 29, 2019. 

 

All 10 West Coast Conference teams open the 2019-20 women’s basketball season on the weekend of December 28-30 with an opening day matchup including BYU revisiting Los Angeles to face LMU as the Lions look to defeat the Cougars at home for the second consecutive season.

 

A highlight in January includes defending regular season champion Gonzaga traveling to tournament champion BYU on Thursday, January 2. The Cougars handed the Bulldogs both of their conference losses last season and swept the series with a win in the tournament as well. The two teams will also meet in Spokane on Saturday, February 1.

 

Another top matchup featuring two of the top three teams from the standings last year comes later in the month when BYU travels to Saint Mary’s on Saturday, January 18 before the teams meet again on Thursday, February 13. The Cougars and Gaels have split the season series each of the last three years with both games last season being decided by a combined total of four points.

 

Other highlights include the first matchup between a pair of rising WCC teams on Saturday, January 4 when Pacific hosts Pepperdine, a meeting of first-year head coaches on Saturday, January 25 when Portland hosts Pepperdine, and the traditional Santa Clara and San Francisco rivalry that plays out on January 4 and February 1.

 

The regular season ends with the start of the 2020 West Coast Conference Basketball Tournament, which will take place from March 5-10 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
