Rydalch named College Sports Madness Women’s Basketball All-High Major Player of the Year

PROVO, Utah — BYU senior guard Lexi Eaton Rydalch has been named the College Sports Madness Women’s Basketball All-High Major Player of the Year.

Rydalch was the West Coast Conference's Player of the Year, was named to the WCC First Team and most recently was named to the 2016 WCC Championships All-Tournament Team.

She leads the league and the team in scoring while ranking fourth nationally in scoring with a 24.3 average.  She's the conference's all-time scoring leader for both men and women. On the men's side, she surpassed Hank Gathers 2,490 career points with her first points in the championship game vs. San Francisco on Tuesday.  On the women's side, she surpassed Alex Cowling's 2,219 career points in the road win at LMU on Jan. 28. Rydalch currently ranks second all-time in scoring in BYU women’s basketball history with 2,513 career points.

Rydalch was also named to the Madness 2015-16 All High-Major First Team. Several other West Coast Conference student-athletes also received postseason recognitions from College Sports Madness. Gonzaga’s Jill Barta was named Freshman of the Year.

San Diego’s Malina Hood made the Second Team while San Francisco’s Taylor Proctor made the Third Team. Saint Mary’s Lauren Nicholson was named to the Fourth Team.
