PROVO, Utah – With the college basketball season just around the corner, Cougar fans will have a chance to see both of the men's and women's 2015-16 basketball teams in action at the annual ‘Boom Shakalaka: The BYU Basketball Showcase.’

Boom Shakalaka will be held on Friday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m. MT in the newly remodeled Marriott Center. The event will also be televised live on BYUtv and BYUtv.org. Spencer Linton and Jarom Jordan of BYU Sports Nation will call the action as the men’s and women’s basketball teams compete in a 3-point shootout and a skills competition. The night will also include a slam dunk contest that will feature a panel of judges and fan voting and a 5-on-5 tournament with members of the men’s team.

Students will also have a chance to get in on the action in a 3-on-3 tournament on the Marriott Center floor that will be held prior to Boom Shakalaka. Four teams will be selected via social media. Follow BYUbasketball on Facebook and Twitter for more information.

Fans are encouraged to pack the Marriott Center to cheer on their favorite players and get ready for the upcoming season. The event will feature the BYU Dunk Team and promotions and giveaways for fans in the arena and on social media. Admission to Boom Shakalaka is free.
