BYU women earn No. 2 seed in WCC Tourney, get bye into quarterfinals

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has announced the brackets and game times for the 2014 WCC Basketball Championships at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.

With a 14-4 WCC record, BYU women's basketball finished the 2014 season in second place behind Gonzaga and two games ahead of third-place Pacific in the league standings.

As the No. 2 seed, the Cougar women get a bye into the quarterfinals. Their first game is on Friday at approximately 2:30 p.m. PST. BYU plays the winner of the first opening-round game between No. 7 seed Santa Clara and No. 10 seed Pepperdine. The Cougars swept both teams during the regular season.

The tournament will begin with a women’s opening round matchup at noon PST on Thursday and continue through the championship game on Tuesday, March 11. BYUtv will air live all of the women’s games through the semifinals on Monday, March 10. All of the tournament games will also be streamed live. Tuesday’s women’s championship airs live on ESPNU.
