At Portland on Saturday

After a disappointing 42-68 loss to Gonzaga Thursday, the Cougar women (13-3, 3-2) look to get back to winning with another road league game.

BYU travels to Portland for a Saturday matchup against the Pilots (9-6, 2-2). The game tips off at 2 p.m. PST and can be heard live on BYU Radio.

About BYU
Three players are scoring in double figures for the Cougar women, led by Jennifer Hamson who is averaging 18.3 points per game and has scored in double digits in all but two games. Lexi Eaton follows with 15.8 points per game and Kim Beeston contributes 11.6 points.

As a team, BYU is averaging 71.6 points per game and is holding opponents to 66.6 points. The Cougars have recorded more blocks than opponents in all but one game (at Gonzaga) and have dished out more assists in 13 of the 16 games played to date. They have also recorded more rebounds in 11 contests to date.

About Portland
The Pilots have compiled a 9-6, 2-2 record and are coming off a 72-51 upset victory over previously unbeaten and No. 24 ranked San Diego.  

Three players are putting up double figures in points for the Pilots led by 15.6 points from Cassandra Brown. Kari Luttinen chips in 13.8 while teammate Jasmine Wooton contributes 12.9 points per contest. The team is averaging 70.1 points and 41.0 rebounds per game.

Portland returns 11 letterwinners including four starters from last year’s team that compiled an 11-20 record finishing in seventh place in the WCC race with a 5-11 mark.

Series History
BYU leads the series 12-4. When playing in Portland, the Cougars have a 6-2 mark. 

Last Meeting
During last year’s West Coast Conference race, BYU swept the series over Portland.

The two league foes played in Provo on Feb. 21 where the Cougars recorded the 79-64 win. 

In the second meeting played in Portland on Mar. 2, BYU picked up the 73-63 road victory.

Next
After the game at Portland, BYU remains on the road with one conference game next week. The Cougars travel to San Diego to take on the Toreros on Saturday, Jan.18 in a 2 p.m. tip off.
