OREM, Utah -- In a final prep before taking its last conference road trip this weekend, the BYU softball team defeated Utah Valley 11-0 in five innings at Wolverine Field on Tuesday.

The Cougars have won nine games in a row and 22 of their last 24 games, the most wins in the last 24 games of any team in the nation. BYU improved to 33-15 on the season.

Senior Jessica Fitu hit 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and a run. Senior Kristin Delahoussaye also added two hits along with one run, one RBI and a walk while junior Delaney Willard had a home run with two RBI and two runs.

Senior Paige Affleck improved to 21-10 with a four-inning, five-strikeout performance, allowing no walks and only two hits.

Fitu and Willard both hit home runs in the top of the third inning. Fitu led off the third inning with a solo shot to center field. Not to be outdone, Willard sent another one over the fence two batters later, a two-run shot after Atagi reached on a walk one at bat before.

BYU ensured the game would end early with a five-run fifth with all five runs coming with two outs. Junior Stacie Graham walked, stole second, then scored when sophomore Alexandra Hudson reached on a UVU fielding error. Three-straight singles followed, bringing in two more runs.

Graham had two runs, one hit, one RBI, one stolen base and a walk on the day.

Freshman pitcher Tori Almond came on for the final inning for BYU, striking out two Wolverines and giving BYU its fifth shutout in the last seven games.

BYU travels to play Colorado State at 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, before playing a two-game series May 6-7 at New Mexico.
