Affleck Claims Third Academic Award of the Year
PROVO -- BYU pitcher Paige Affleck was honored with her third academic award of 2010 after being named a Mountain West Conference Scholar-Athlete by the MWC on Wednesday.
Affleck is already finishing up graduate student work toward a master's degree in exercise physiology despite having finished only her junior year of eligibility.
Affleck has a cumulative GPA of 3.52 in grad school while at the same time leading the Cougars in the circle as BYU's ace pitcher last season. Helping BYU advance to the program's first-ever NCAA Super Regional, Affleck finished with the 10th-most wins in the country at 32, also a BYU record.
Earlier this year, Affleck was named an ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VIII First Team selection and an MWC All-Academic selection in addition to be placed on the NFCA/Louisville Slugger Pacific All-Region Second Team and the Mountain West All-Conference First Team.
