TUCSON -- The most successful season in BYU softball history ended on Saturday as BYU lost 10-2 to Arizona in the elimination game of the NCAA Tucson Super Regional.

BYU finishes the season with a 46-13 record, the most wins in a season in Cougar history, advancing to an NCAA Super Regional for the first time in the program's history.

Second baseman Kristin Delahoussaye went 2-for-3 and scored BYU first run from third in the opening inning off a wild pitch. The Cougars had two runners on base with Arizona ace Kenzie Fowler out of the game after BYU freshman J.C. Clayton sent a laser right back at Fowler, hitting her in the throwing arm.

BYU would get no more out of the inning, however, after Andrea Ramirez and Jessica Fitu both struck out swinging.

After giving up one run in the first, the Cougars watched as the Wildcats ran up four runs in the third and five in the fourth. Four singles and two doubles in the fifth inning gave Arizona double-digit runs.

The Cougars would add one other run in the bottom of the fifth after a Delahoussaye single up the middle scored pinch runner Krista Hicks and put runners on first and second. After Clayton grounded out, Angeline Quiocho flied out to deep right for the game's final out.

Clayton’s single in the first made her just the fourth player in BYU history to reach 80 hits in a season, tying the MWC Freshman of the Year for third on the list with 80 hits while Delahoussaye’s double gave her 17 on the season, tied for second-most in a season by any Cougar player.

Jessica Dugas added two hits in two at bats while Amanda Kellum also had a hit for BYU.
