Cougars Fall to Rams, 4-7

FORT COLLINS, Colo., (April 17, 2010) – Seven full innings, and an hour and 20 minute-rain delay later, BYU was dealt its first conference loss of the season to Colorado State University, 7-3 Saturday afternoon.
Prior to this game, BYU (29-9, 4-1) was ranked first in the conference and was ahead of the rest of the teams by a half of a game. Now it sits dead even with San Diego State University.
This loss also snapped BYU’s nine-game winning streak.
Andrea Ramirez and Jessica Fitu accounted for all three of BYU’s RBI.
Ramirez brought in two RBI in the first off a hard-hit shot to centerfield bringing home Kristin Delahoussaye and J.C. Clayton to give the Cougars an early lead.
Fitu brought in BYU’s third and final run in the top of the third inning with a sacrifice bunt which allowed Angie Quiocho to score.
CSU slowly chipped away at the Cougars' lead one run at a time, until the bottom of the sixth where it scored four runs off a one-run single and a three-run homer.
BYU returns to Gail Miller Field to face UNLV on Thursday, April 22nd, at 6 p.m. (MST).
