PROVO -- For the fourth time in BYU softball history, the team heads down to College Station, TX today to take part in the Texas A&M Invitational.

Scheduled to play four games in three days, the Cougars (10-4) will face their fourth ranked opponent, No. 19 Texas A&M, for the third week in a row.

“These tournaments and ranked opponents have been great experiences for us and we welcome the challenges that come with them,” said BYU head coach Gordon Eakin. “This team can definitely compete at that level. I am really proud of what we have accomplished so far and look forward to our future as we continue to improve.”

No. 9 Georgia Tech, No. 1 Washington and No. 2 Arizona are BYU’s list of ranked opponents this season and although the Cougars have lost these games, Eakin is pleased with how his team has battled.

BYU will begin its Invitational play by facing No. 19 Texas A&M on Thursday, March 4, at 6 p.m. (CT). The Cougars will then play a doubleheader on Friday, March 5, against Monmouth and No. 19 Texas A&M at 12:15 p.m. (CST), respectively.

BYU will wrap its tournament play up with one more doubleheader on Saturday, March 6, against Monmouth at 10 a.m. (CT) and No. Colorado at 12:15 p.m. (CT).

Live stats and live video will also be provided during the tournament and links can be found at www.byucougars.com on the softball schedule page.
