PROVO -- With the start of the semester underway, and the softball fall season rapidly approaching, the BYU Women’s softball team will hold walk-on tryouts Sept. 16 at 3:30 p.m. at Gail Miller Field.

Any BYU student interested in competing for a spot on the 20-player roster are encouraged to attend. Those wishing to tryout must be students at BYU and need to have completed a doctor’s physical indicating whether they are physically able to play prior to tryouts. This physical needs to be brought to tryouts as well. Players should also come early so they can get their range of motion test completed before tryouts.

“Tryout are designed to provide an opportunity for students at BYU to display their skills and see if they can add to our teams’ already impressive talents,” BYU head coach Gordon Eakin said. “Although making the team has proved to be difficult in the past, it can be done. This year we are specifically looking for another catcher.”

Those who would like to tryout are asked to contact the coaching staff for more information, either by stopping by the softball office in Miller Park or by e-mail at neta_lei@byu.edu. Interested players should also obtain a information packet which can be found outside the coaches office at Miller Park.
