Cougars Get Set At Columbus Regional

PROVO, Utah (May 14,2009)—The BYU softball team is set to begin post-season play at the Columbus Regional, hosted by Ohio State University, against Kentucky on Thursday at 5 p.m. (EDT).

The Cougars, who are making their fifth-straight regional appearance, are competing against the Wildcats, who are playing in their first regional.

Kentucky is coming off the best season in school history with a 32-21 record. In the South Eastern Conference tournament, the Wildcats fell 2-1 against Alabama in eight innings in the semifinal, after defeating Georgia in the opening round.

BYU clinched the Mountain West Conference title during the regular season, finishing 39-16 and 12-2 overall.

The winner of BYU vs. Kentucky will face the winner of Ohio State vs. Canisius on Friday, while the losing teams will matchup on Friday as well.
