Affleck Receives Academic All-District Honor
PROVO -- EPSN the Magazine and CoSIDA announced today that BYU sophomore pitcher Paige Affleck was named to the Academic All-District First Team.
The righthander from New Harmony, Utah, has been an anchor to the Cougars, maintaining an 18-8 record with a 1.82 ERA and 180 strikeouts spanning 172.2 innings.
“It’s nice to have your high-level contributors maintain such high academic success,” BYU head coach Gordon Eakin said. “Paige is very gifted both on and off the field.”
Affleck, who is majoring in exercise science, will graduate in August and pursue a master’s degree in exercise science while completing her eligibility. She plans to attend medical school upon completion of grad school.
This is the fourth-straight season a BYU softball student-athlete received an Academic All-District honor.
The Cougars, who clinched the MWC title, complete the regular season with a three-game homestand schedule to begin Thursday at 7 p.m. against New Mexico.
