Double Header Set Against SUU
PROVO -- The BYU women's softball team stays in state for a doubleheader against Southern Utah in Cedar City, Utah on Tuesday at 1 p.m.
The Cougars are coming off their opening homestand, and a trip to the Stanford Invitational II. They finished 6-1 during the week, with their only loss coming against No. 5 Stanford. BYU is now 18-12 on the season, while SUU is 8-20.
Daniela Snow and Angeline Quiocho lead the Cougars. Quiocho maintains a .389 Batting average with 11 home runs. Snow is batting .382 with nine homers and 29 RBI. Snow led the Cougars during the past week with 11 RBI and eight hits.
The Cougars faced the T-birds during their home opener and BYU took the 4-1 win during the Red Desert Classic in St. George, Utah. The Cougars took the lead in the first inning with a solo shot from Jessica Purcell followed by one run in the fourth and two runs in the fifth, without giving up a run until the seventh inning.
BYU leads the all-time series 26-4. In 2007 the two teams faced off four times with BYU taking all four wins. SUU finished second in the Mid-Continent Conference and qualified for a berth to the NCAA Regional Tournament, hosted by BYU.
