PROVO -- In front of the biggest crowd of the season the Cougars sealed another win on the season shutting out the Utah Valley State Wolverines 4-0, bringing their overall record to 31-14. Ianeta Le`i tied the single-season RBI record at 60 in the victory.

"It's nice to win, I'm pleased with the way we came out," said head coach Gordon Eakin. "We did a good job with what we had. We played some new kids today because of the injuries we have--three of our top hitters out of the game."

In the first through fourth innings the Wolverines were the only ones picking up hits, as the game remained scoreless until the fifth.

In the top of the fourth inning Jackie Roberts of UVSC hit it deep to right field, but it wasn't enough for the Wolverines as right fielder Monica Gonzalez caught the pop fly.

The Wolverines gave the Cougars a scare again in the top of the fifth as they had runners on second and third with only one out. Pitcher Summer Tobias came in relief to strike out Kaeleigh Forsyth and caught the next grounder to bring the Cougars back onto the field.

After a few pop flies, the Cougars finally got on base in the fifth inning as injured pinch hitter Le`i hit it deep in right field picking up two RBI and the first two runs of the game. With the two RBI, Le`i tied the single-season RBI record at 60.

"Neta's orders were to hit the ball, but don't run and she did just that," said Eakin. "Neta is a team in herself, she is a phenomenal player."

In the top of the sixth UVSC's Cari Hamilton hit a grounder past first baseman Jennifer Whiteley for a double, but couldn't pull out a score.

Boyce-Humbert, now 7-2 pitched for the first five innings until Summer Tobias was brought into the game to relieve her in the sixth.

Tracee Hoch had her third homerun of the season to left center, upping the Cougars to a 3-0 lead over the Wolverines in the sixth. The homer was followed by Paige Paramore hitting a single, her pinch runner Stephanie Platt bringing it home on an RBI from Jodi Norton on a single. The Cougars led 4-0 after the sixth inning.

The Wolverines couldn't muster a run in the top of the seventh, sealing the win for the Cougars 4-0.

BYU will travel to the University of Utah for a double-header Saturday in Salt Lake City for games at noon on 2 p.m.
