Home runs lift BYU past SDSU
PROVO -- Cougar hitters blasted six homeruns in a double header sweep of San Diego State Friday evening at Gail Miller field.
BYU took the first game from the Aztecs 6-0. The Cougars got on the board in the third inning when Paige Paramore laced a single down the third base line, scoring two.
BYU extended its lead in the following inning when Ashlyn Russell blasted a homerun over the centerfield wall. Paramore continued to dominate the Aztec pitching in the fifth inning when she hit another RBI single to score Debbie Dodds.
The Cougars finished off their scoring in the Jodie Norton hit a two-run homer to score Russell who led off the inning with a double.
Summer Tobias recorded the win for the Cougars, improving her record to 15-4 on the season. She pitched a complete game, striking out four and giving up only four hits.
The Cougars continued their domination in the second game. BYU hit four home runs in the game, two by Neta Le'i, and one each by Norton and Paramore as the Cougars won 9-4.
Daniella Urincho earned the victory for the Cougars, improving her record to 9-2 on the season.
