PROVO -- BYU softball continued their dominance over Utah State winning both games of a double-header 9-1 and 11-2 Tuesday at Gail Miller Field.

Summer Tobias had another great outing for the Cougars in the early game, allowing only one run while recording five strikeouts, for her tenth victory of the season. Shortstop Jodi Norton was outstanding making several stops defensively and offensively going 2-for-3 with a home run in the seven-run fifth inning.

"It was fun out there today," BYU head coach Gordon Eakin said. "We played the way we're capable of playing. They pitching started out slow, but our defense held in there while we came around."

The Aggies came out in game two looking like they would make a game of it taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning. However, the Cougars took the lead and the momentum in the second inning going up 3-1. BYU put the game away in the fourth inning, scoring five runs on four hits. Brooke Boyce with her unusual pitching style, started in the circle, pitching four superb innings with Daniella Urincho taking care of business for the final two innings.

"What I like about Brooke's pitching style is her intensity," Eakin said. "It throws hitters off when she's coming from everywhere." Boyce is now 5-2 on the season.

The Cougars defeated Utah State in less than seven innings in both games and is now19-0 all-time against the Aggies.

BYU takes a five-game road trip where they will meet Mountain West Conference foes San Diego St. Thursday April 7 at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. along with UNLV Saturday April 9 at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
