BYU Drops Game to San Diego, 2-1

SAN DIEGO -- A day after sweeping a doubleheader against San Diego, the Cougars fell to the Toreros, 2-1, Saturday.

San Diego's Amy Lopez pitched a complete game to lead the Toreros to victory, allowing just four hits and one earned run. The Toreros scored in the first inning on a RBI single by second baseman Anne Skidmore. The Cougars responded in the third inning on a RBI double by Liz Smith, who went 2-for-2 in the game, but San Diego's Katie Morrison sealed the win with a one-out solo homerun in the fourth.

BYU's Lindsay Jones got the loss in her first start. The Cougars fell 4-3 on the season, while the Toreros evened their record at 6-6.

The Cougars will next face Tulsa, Washington, Utah State and Stanford in the St. George Tournament next weekend.
