Cougars add transfer catcher in Camen
PROVO, Utah — BYU softball has signed transfer catcher Angelina Camen, head coach Gordon Eakin announced today.
“We are thrilled to have Angelina join our program,” Eakin said. “She is a high level catcher and will add depth and strength to our battery.”
Camen joins the Cougars after a year at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The catcher started in two games last season, appearing in seven throughout the year and recording a career-high six putouts against Texas Southern.
The sophomore from Tucson, Ariz., prepped at University High School and was named the All-Region Player of the Year in 2021. A three-time All-Region selection, Camen also earned All-State honors and was named to the 2018 Southern Arizona All-Freshman Team.
Along with recent transfer Alyssa Aguilar, who also came to Provo from Corpus Christi, Camen played club ball for the Oro Valley Suncats for 11 years, helping the team to a Top-5 finish at the 2021 TCS Nationals and top-10 finish at the 2021 Colorado Sparkler.
Both Aguilar and Camen were coached by now assistant coach Todd Judge during their time with the Suncats.
