Moffat-Korth named WCC pitcher of the week
MURRIETA, Calif. — BYU softball senior Autumn Moffat-Korth is the West Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
In the opening series against a WCC opponent, Moffat-Korth pitched two complete games against Loyola Marymount and went 1-1 over the weekend. She earned a 4-0 win over the Lions on Friday, striking out five players. Although she took the loss in a 1-0 game the next day on Saturday, the only run scored by LMU was unearned.
The fifth-year senior has a running total of 445 career strikeouts, which is fifth all time in BYU history. She needs 60 more to break the record Tori Almond set for the fourth-most from 2011-2014.
This is Moffat-Korth's second honor of the year, and the fourth time a pitcher from BYU has earned the weekly title. It is also BYU's sixth overall honor this season, with outfielder Violet Zavodnik, pitcher Chloe Temples (2) and outfielder Taylei Williams previously winning.
