MURRIETA, Calif. — BYU softball senior Taylei Williams was honored with the West Coast Conference Player of the Week title, the conference announced Monday.

Williams batted second in BYU's lineup in every game last week, assisting the Cougars in a series sweep over future Big 12 Conference opponent Iowa State University on Friday and Saturday. She tallied eight hits, six runs and 3 RBI over four games, with a batting average of .571.

Despite falling 9-3 to the No. 13 Oregon Ducks on Monday earlier in the week, Williams hit one triple and one double for one run, with a .667 batting average in the matchup. Williams' success on Monday propelled her to go three-for-four at the plate on Friday in BYU's first game against the Cyclones, including a double and stolen base.

This is Williams' first-ever POW honor. It is also BYU's fifth overall honor this season, with outfielder Violet Zavodnik, pitcher Autumn Moffat-Korth and pitcher Chloe Temples (2) previously winning.
