Zavodnik named WCC Player of the Week
SAN MATEO, Calif. — BYU softball's Violet Zavodnik was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
At the San Diego Classic last weekend, the sophomore had seven hits, four runs, five RBI, a .500 batting average and a 1.071 slugging percentage in four games.
Zavodnik helped lead the Cougars in a four-game sweep in San Diego. Against San Diego State, she stepped up to the plate with two outs in the top of the eighth inning and hit a game-winning home run to win 2-1 in BYU's first game of the tournament. She started all four games in centerfield.
This is BYU's first player of the week award this season, with Chloe Temples and Autumn Moffat-Korth previously winning pitcher of the week.
