The Athletes' Journal: Rylee Jensen-McFarland
BYU Athletics has published a new entry in The Athletes’ Journal — a series featuring Cougar athletes telling their story in their own words.
From her time on the farm to her four years at BYU, Rylee Jensen-McFarland recalls her journey leading up to her senior year and the moment it was all cut short in when the BYU softball team was told its season was over, due to the coronavirus. In addition to details on her life growing up in Idaho and her BYU experience, Jensen-McFarland recounts what happened on Thursday, March 12, 2020, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, when BYU softball head coach Gordon Eakin called an emergency meeting the morning the Cougars were supposed to take on No. 10 Alabama.
The Athletes’ Journal series regularly features the unique perspectives of BYU student-athletes throughout the year. The series provides in-depth insight into the lives of members of BYU’s intercollegiate sports programs.
