STILLWATER, Okla. – The BYU softball team held Oklahoma State to three runs but couldn’t find enough offense in a 3-1 loss to open the Stillwater NCAA Regional on Thursday night.

Player Highlights:

  • Libby Sugg: 2-2, 1 RBI, 1 BB
  • Arissa Paulson: L (15-11), 3R, 5 BB, 3K
  • Lexi Tarrow: 1-3

The Pokes drove in two runs in the bottom of the first to take an early 2-0 lead. After BYU went down in order in the second, OSU scored another run to increase its lead to 3-0.

Paulson and the BYU defense held the Oklahoma State batters in check, not allowing a run the rest of the way.

In the top of the sixth, Jensen drew a walk to get on base and advanced to second as Williams grounded out to the pitcher. Sugg got her second hit of the night, singling on a bloop near first and second as two OSU players collided, sending in Jensen for BYU’s first run of the night.

The Cowgirls went down in order in the bottom of the sixth but BYU was unable to overcome their lead, losing 3-1.

The Cougars will fight to stay in the double-elimination NCAA Stillwater Regional as they take on Arkansas tomorrow at approximately 2:30 p.m. at Cowgirl Stadium on ESPN3.
