Cougars fall to No. 25 Colorado State

PROVO, Utah – Despite eight hits, BYU softball lost 2-0 to No. 25 Colorado State on Monday afternoon at Gail Miller Field.

The two teams battled it out for three scoreless innings. In the top of the fourth, a solo homer got Colorado State (39-10, 18-6 MWC) on the board. The Rams continued their momentum with a double to left field and with a runner on second and scored their second run of the inning.

BYU (26-23, 10-2 WCC) threatened multiple times, scattering eight hits, but was unable to get a runner across home plate. In the bottom of the seventh, with BYU runners on first and second, Ashley Godfrey hit into a double play and the game ended 2-0.

The Cougars return to Gail Miller Field Tuesday, May 7 for their final home game of the season. Utah State comes to Provo with the first pitch at 6 p.m. MT. The game will be broadcast live on BYUtv Digital.  BYU’s five seniors will be honored following the game.
