Bull picks up third WCC Pitcher of the Week honor
SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Following another dominant week from the circle, McKenna Bull earned her third West Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week nod of the season, as announced by the conference on Monday.
In six weeks of action, Bull has won three of the pitcher of the week honors while her teammates Kerisa Viramontes and Arissa Paulson have also picked one up each. There has only been one week of the season that the Cougars have not won WCC Pitcher of the Week.
In three games played, Bull picked up three wins, one against Maine and two against Wagner. She led No. 25 BYU to an 8-0 home-opening win against Maine in five innings, throwing nine strikeouts in a complete game. In the doubleheader against Wagner on Thursday, Bull started the first game, throwing seven strikeouts in another complete game. She did not start the second game, but she came in to pitch the last two innings with the game tied, picking up the win in the 5-4 comeback. Bull tossed 12 strikeouts in those two games, including five in the two innings of the second game.
Over the three games, Bull had a 0.50 ERA while holding the batters to a .093 batting average. She totaled 21 strikeouts with just one walk. In the record books, she is one win away from tying Paige Affleck’s 91 career wins, the most in BYU history. Her record this season is 13-2.
