Cougars take winning streak to Stockton this weekend
PROVO, Utah – Riding a five-game winning streak, BYU softball hits the road to face West Coast Conference opponent Pacific this weekend, leaving the state of Utah for the first time since the first weekend of April.
In the series history between the two teams, BYU (27-17, 4-2 WCC) leads Pacific (19-22, 2-7 WCC) 9-1 overall with a 3-0 record in Stockton, California. Since joining the WCC, the Cougars have not lost to the Tigers.
BYU is coming off of a big weekend, sweeping Saint Mary’s, who came to Provo in first in the WCC. The Cougars shut out the Gaels in two games, and the other game was a run-rule victory. After the series, BYU is now tied for first place with Loyola Marymount. Junior pitcher McKenna Bull and junior first baseman Ashley Thompson swept the WCC weekly awards this week after Bull had a 0.29 ERA and Thompson hit .818 over four games.
Pacific is currently on a six-game losing streak after dropping the series against San Diego at home. The Tigers’ two WCC wins have come against Saint Mary’s in 10 innings and Santa Clara.
The teams will face off in a doubleheader on Friday starting at 4 p.m. PDT. The final game on Saturday will be played at noon PDT. Links for live streaming and live stats are available on the BYU softball schedule page.
