BYU to face Utah Valley in home opener

PROVO, Utah – Following a 4-2 week of play, BYU softball will play its first home game of the season against Utah Valley on Tuesday at Gail Miller Field.

The Cougars (18-12) have a 32-4 overall record against the Utah Valley Wolverines (4-21). BYU won two of the three meetings last year, the most recent being an 8-0 victory in five innings in Provo.

In 2016, the Wolverines have collected four wins in 25 games played. Their best win came against Bethune-Cookman, winning 11-3 in six innings. On the season, Utah Valley’s leader at the plate is Brianna Gatlin. She had 17 RBI and 22 hits so far this year.

BYU (18-12) capped off its tournament play with a 3-2 finish at the San Diego Classic II that included a 6-3 win over No. 24 Fresno State. McKenna Bull threw her second-career no-hitter against UC Santa Barbara, earning her fourth West Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week honor.
