Broderick earns second consecutive WCC Player of the Week
PROVO, Utah – Sophomore catcher Sydney Broderick earned her second-consecutive Player of the Week honor as announced by the West Coast Conference Monday.
Broderick led the Cougars' offense in an 8-0, five-inning win at Weber State (22-11). The catcher out of Ashburn, Virginia, hit 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI in the game to help BYU improve to 21-8 on the season as they snapped the Wildcats' (22-11) seven-game win streak.
In the bottom of the third and with runners on first and second, Broderick smashed a three-run homer over the center-field fence for her third of the season. It was also the sixth time in her career that she recorded three or more RBI in a single game. Broderick collects her second weekly nod of the season and fourth of her career, earning the honor last week.
The Cougars face Utah State Tuesday at 4 p.m. MDT and commence WCC play this weekend at Saint Mary’s in Moraga, California.
