Broderick named WCC Player of the Week
PROVO, Utah – Sophomore Sydney Broderick earned Player of the Week honors as announced by the West Coast Conference Monday.
Broderick’s bat and defensive play helped BYU to a 3-1 weekend, including a sweep of Oklahoma State in the home-opening series. This is her third career weekly conference honor.
The catcher out of Ashburn, Virginia, hit .667 with a double, three RBI and two runs scored while drawing five walks as the Cougars took the series 2-1, 10-2 and 10-2, ending the final two games in five and six innings, respectively. Broderick notched an .833 slugging percentage with an .818 OBP. She also caught two runners stealing.
In the bottom of the sixth of the first game against the Cowgirls, Broderick hit a double into left center that drove in the eventual game-winning run as BYU beat Oklahoma State to take the first game in the series in the Cougars’ home opener.
