Bull named WCC Pitcher of the Week
SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Freshman RHP McKenna Bull was named West Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week for the second time in three weeks on Monday.
McKenna Bull finished the week with a 3-0 record and did not allow an earned run in her three appearances. Against Utah Valley on Tuesday, she pitched two innings and struck out two batters in a combined no-hitter with teammates Tori Almond and Ashley Thompson. She then earned victories over Santa Clara on Friday and Saturday striking out 13 over 12.1 innings pitched. With her 15 strikeouts on the week she has 136 on the season breaking BYU’s freshman strikeouts record.
This is the seventh weekly honor for the Cougars this year. Sydney Broderick and Katie Manuma have earned two WCC Player of the Week honors and McKenzie St. Clair has earned one.
Saint Mary’s sophomore catcher Andrea Hazel earned the WCC Player of the Week after helping the Gaels to victories over Cal and San Diego.
BYU will return to action Tuesday against in-state rival Southern Utah in a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m. MDT at Gail Miller Field.
