Manuma named WCC Player of the Week
SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Katie Manuma has been named West Coast Conference Player of the Week for her performance in last week’s Easton Desert Classic.
Manuma showed off her versatility during the five games she played in last week. In the opening game of the tournament she went 4-for-5 with three doubles, a home run and seven RBIs, while pitching two innings for the win. Against No. 22/24 Minnesota she went 3-for-4 including a bunt single and a stolen base.
She finished the week hitting .470 with three doubles, a home run, eight RBIs, six runs, two walks and a stolen base. She also received her second win from the circle against Portland State. This is the second weekly award Manuma has won in her career.
Sarah Lira from Saint Mary’s received the WCC Pitcher of the Week with a 2-1 record and a 1.50 ERA.
BYU returns to the field Thursday to take on Virginia at 10 a.m. PST and Notre Dame at 12:30 p.m. PST in the opening games of the Mary Nutter Classic in Cathedral City, Calif.
