LAUSANNE, Switzerland - BYU men's volleyball 2013 recruit Bennett Bird has been chosen to represent team USA at this year's Beach Volleyball SWATCH Youth World Championships.

A total of 32 teams (consisting of two members each) from around the world will participate in the tournament.

Bird will join his teammate Riley Mallon in Larnaca, Cyprus, at the tournament which runs from July 11-14. Bird's team is just one-of-two teams to be selected as representatives for the USA.

Cyprus Volleyball Federation President Damianos Hadjidamianou said in November he was looking forward to welcoming the world's best under-19 players, adding that the tournament will help promote beach volleyball in the country.
